Default For 2pac - Obama's opinion on Pot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuqvcMDqMn8

Basically laughs at people on the "internet" for suggesting that legalizing pot might be a good thing for the economy.

Mockery of people on the internet - change we can believe in.

I don't think you can argue that you should do something like that for economic purposes, nor do I think the people suggesting that it will help the economy give a shit about the economy to begin with - and if they have any sense with numbers, they'd realize it doesn't make a dent in the economy.

The reason to legalize pot is because it's the right thing to do, even though I don't smoke it nor have I ever, I don't see why it's illegal when it's legal to drink until you pass out.

If it affects your judgement and how you drive and such, make it legal and cite people for doing things under the influence of it. Allow employers to make their own decision about it, but for folks not bound by employers or responsibility, what does it hurt for them to waste their time? They're probably doing it already, anyway.

It'd be bad news for pot smokers in one sense, though, the quality of their stuff would probably go down, and the cost of it would probably go up as the government would tax it as much as they could get away with.

That's a chance I'm willing to take.

In his defense, I didn't see him say he hates pot or thinks it should be illegal - I saw him say that it's not a worthwhile thing to worry about to "grow the economy". I agree with him on that.

Not unless someone mentions Bush, then he loves Obama for a second until he catches himself gushing.

Cool.

And, if Gary's additional context is accurate, I have to agree...while there are many many reasons to reform marijuana law, "boosting the economy" isn't one of them.
