What do you think?

I'll bet standtall would found out that they'd take a shot across the jaw to get their entire retirement security back. Even if we told them they were suckers for not having taken an actuarial course about investment diversity, unique risk and counterparty risk.

A guy who assaults multiple people should also not get waterboarded. He is just a worse criminal than a guy who does fraud.

Your logic flow is strange. I never said we should trade punches for money.

In your example, you could probably even find a few people that would submit themselves to rape to get their money back, this does not make Madoff worse than a rapist, or does it?

Depends which one. This does not change my opinion is that a guy who is prone to assault people in a way to have been caught doing it several times is worse than a guy who does fraud.

How? I get punched in the face an hour later I'm fine, maybe a swollen eye an stitches but I will heal. If I lose my life savings at 70 I'm eating cat food and living off social security for the rest of my life.

I just don't understand why a white collar con man is somehow above a dumb arse who gets drunk and has trouble not punching people. The latter causes localized problems, but not widespread life-long ruin.

Maybe to you, but to most people, they would rather get punched in the face then be defrauded of a significant portion of their savings, this makes the fraudster a worse criminal than the petty assault guy.

Not sure why you have so much trouble grasping this concept. That's not to say I'm surprised.

You are comparing the worst possible fraud ever to the smallest assault upon which someone has been convicted of. Has anyone ever even gone to jail fpr throwing one punch?

If you have all your money tied up in one guys "investments" without having done any research.... You can lose even if there is no fraud going on.

What if you get beaten by a bat and are now blind and stuck in a wheelchair?

Money doesn't seem so important anymore now does it?

How did simple assault get changed to assault with a deadly weapon or attempted murder? Was your point too weak without stretching it?
