Later, I thought Montreal had a goal on a semi-two on one when the rebound came to the left circle and the Canadien was shooting toward an open net, only to see the net come off the moorings because the Cap defender ran the Montreal player into Varlamov.

Again, I'm biased, so maybe not thinking straight.... it really seemed like officiating was heavily slanted in this one; but I really wanted the Caps to lose. The 5-5 goal was so soft and the Canadiens have no one to blame but themselves (so I'm not saying the officials are the reason for the loss).

Habs had a few calls go against them, but I didn't think it was atrocious, certainly no worse that the standard Pittsburgh-favoring bias in Pens games.

I missed much of the game due to studying but when I saw the recap I was a bit surprised a couple of those Cap goals were allowed but will give the benefit of the doubt to the officials. Also surprised that Gomez fought - wish I saw the whole thing. Anyway, Martin didn't do the team any favours by putting Cammaleri out in the last 2 mins (great player, but not who you put out when protecting a 1 goal lead) and it is my understanding that he took no time outs? WTF?

Um ... I'd like to change that 1st round pick for the Sharks-Avalanche, please.

TIA

On the other hand, every Blues fan is laughing and thinking, "thank God - the Sharks finally got payback for Marc Bergevin throwing the puck behind Roman Turek in the 2000 playoffs."

So Blues fans have been reduced to hoping other teams get revenge for them in the playoffs, because they know they aren't getting back themselves anytime soon?

It's worse, actually. They've been reduced to hoping and praying that Quenneville makes the playoffs with whatever team he happens to be coaching, and then loses so they can call it a choke job. Doesn't matter what seed they are, who they're playing, what round it is, how many games the series goes, or what the scores were. It's a big fat choke job. And they would rather observe this, than see their own team win.
