Default Delaware Sports betting

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Sports...&asset=&ccode=

Sports betting is successful in Vegas, but it is not state run. The state can't run single game betting, because there is a risk of losing money. A standard NFL game produces on 4% profit if there is equal action (For every $22 taken in, $21 is paid out). This is much smaller than typical state run gambling. What if there is not equal action? What is Delaware going to do, charge 130-100 on NFL games?

Article - NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an e-mail that the league's contracts with its broadcast carriers prohibit references to betting on the outcome of games during NFL telecasts.
"Our network partners know that we do not condone any NFL point spread references on other programming on the multiple platforms that they operate," McCarthy said. "But, just as we cannot prevent newspapers or TV and radio stations in Delaware from carrying point spreads or gambling information, we cannot exercise editorial control over those other non-NFL network platforms."

Brent Musberger has always been cognizant of the spread, and not just in college, where teams are constantly referred to as 2 TD favorites and such. GB/DET playoff game 12(?) years ago after a safety as time expired made the final 16-12 (4 or 4.5 pt spread): "What's important here is the final score, Det 16, GB 12"

Even Al Michaels has referenced the total on MNF. After a late TD: "This game is over, in more ways than one."

I think Delaware will start with no single game betting. And they'll not mess with the NCAA.

I wonder who would set the lines? Me?

I remember many years ago Oregon tried NFL parlay tickets with parimutual payouts. The state cannot lose money, however, one week with a lot of underdogs covered the spread, and four team parlays paid 25-1; another week in which most favorites covered, the tickets paid 2-1.

Can't we just legalize it in riverboats and indian casinos everywhere? I'd probably stop buying my season tickets if I knew I could go to a sports book and drink and gamble all day while watching NFL games.
