Certianly not A-Rod. Without him Texas would finish no worse.

Certainly A-Rod. It's an individual award, and the craptasticness of one's teamates should not be in the equation.

I'd vote for A-Rod over the other two in the poll any day, regardless of record. A DH who's played less than 130 games? Never! And Shannon Stewart? Is the AL this weak? I voted for other.

Normally I prefer someone from a winner, however this year is tough.

If I was going for someone from a losing team I would probably vote for Delgado over ARod.

If looking for a winner, no one on the Yankees, A's, Mariners or Twins really has the numbers. Beltran from KC & Ordonez from CWS were good but not as good as the guys from Boston.

Oritiz has been clutch, but just not enough numbers. Nomar is the team's leader, but based on numbers,he had a great year, but.. and I hate the attitude and the problems last month, but I have to go with Ramirez. He has the stats, even enough to hold up against the non-winners

I'd be with you if this were a purely offensive award, but A-Rod's an outstanding defensive shortstop, and Man-Ram's a barely adequate left fielder. That counts for a lot.

Carlos Delgado

It seems like there are inconsistencies involving errors and who gets them. I have seen some great defensive players in action and have been unimpressed. What seem like clear errors to me don't always make it to the official book.

and if they were both on winners I would agree. But Boston being in the place offs trumps ARod's defense

EK: I stand corrected. When they fell out of the race I also thought they fell well below .500. Though still not a contending team after the midpoint of the season. If I got the ten votes:

Ramirez
Delgado
ARod
Ortiz
Beltran
Ordonez
Garciapara
Stewart
Wells
Chavez
