Hey beer lovers, I need a favor.
My company is having a craft fair in November of this year, and I am a crafty guy. I am going to make Beer Bottle Cap Fishing Lures that look like this: ![]() I'd really appreciate your help if you could save the ones that are twist off or haven't been bent too bad prying off. For evey one that you send me, that full $ sold for will go to the Lake County Crisis Center as a donation. I would like to get all the crafty beers and local micro brewery caps that are unavailable here. At least three of each, more if possible. Please PM me when you have a good amount of them and I will shoot you my addy. A huge thank you to those that are helping a good cause. Typically, I like to make things affordable, so these lures will prolly go for about $4 a piece, and prolly 3 for $10. I'd like to get about 100 made for the donation piece as well. I will report how much $ we make to donate as well. The ingredients to make these are: 1 leader (or treble) 1 hook 3 large sized bb's Drill two 3/32" holes on opposite sides of the bottle cap Place 3 bb's inside the bottle cap and fold in half (the drilled holes will be on the edges) Either string or use a small wire-ring to attach the hook and leader to the bottle cap Viola! Go ahead and try to make these if you'd like. Great small gift ideas. [A HREF = "http://www.ehow.com/how_2311885_make-beer-bottle-cap-lure.html"]eHow.com[/A] has a "how-to-make" as well. Other creative lures will be (1) without the bb's and have fly string on them for ones that float on top of the water, (2) (2)attaching rubber bait to the hook. There are about 800 people in my home office, so chances are somebody will like the name on any bottle cap for some reason. Also, the gold and silver caps look more like minnows. The caps that I will have an abundance of are as follows: MGD 64 Miller Lite Shmirnoff Ices (sp) Blue Moon NewCastle Brown (my favorite beer) So anything else will suffice, so long as there are at least 3 of each. Also, the silver and gold ones work the best, as they look more like minnows.

Do these actually catch fish?

I (and my kids) have all caught fish. I have a few fly bottle cap as well as reflective deep lake that I've caught fish with. The caps are used to mostly get the fish's attention. The bait is what they normally go for. The "sinking" bottlecaps have been swallowed by bigger fish. I caught a 32 lb brown trout and a rainbow trout with a MGD 64 bottle cap.
