I find it only slightly ironic that my first post to this forum is to complain. Especially about studying.

From my apartment, I can walk to Wrigley Field in 12 minutes. But am I going to the game? Nope. Am I going to Murphy's to get sloshed and watch the game? Nuh-uh. Am I even sitting on my couch with an Old Style and watching on the tube? No, not even. Gonna be at the library while 50,000 of my closest friends are partying in Wrigleyville.

"Hey Mav, do you remember the name of that truckdriving school we saw on TV the other day?"

*sigh* All right. I'm done now. Happy Cubs Tuesday.

If it's a Cubs/Sox World Series, I hope you get your priorities straight. Exams are every six months. My grandfather wasn't even alive last time those teams were playing for the championship.

Christ. Go to the game and then study when you get back. Do you really think 4 hours of studying is going to make the difference between passing and failing?

Get used to this. You've a few more exams to go after this one.

Come on knowles! They're gonna clinch it tonight! Prior will be untouchable. At least come home in time to watch most of the game, hang your head out the window and scream, then go study if you have to. I'm not quite as close as you, but probably 12 minutes by train. I'm studying up 'til 7, then rootin' for the Cubs. My big compromise is staying away from Wrigleyville.

If you can't watch the whole thing (there's nowhere in the next three weeks to squeeze in 3 hours?), you have an obligation to at least watch the end while you eat, brush your teeth, do laundry, or any other multi-tasking you can think of.

Come now, LVB, that was absolutely gratitious post-padding of the worst kind. Anyway, a rant about studying for exam 4 belongs in this thread. The sports content is peripheral to the exam frustration elements. :P

Then, I (I am not LVB) think it should go into Exams General since it really has nothing to do with course 4.

Default Another perspective - World Series StudyTime-a-rama.

It is not trivial - 5 games Divisional Championship
7 games league championship
6 or 7 game world series

Don't berate yourself for studying and sacrificing.

18 games x 4 hours per game = 72. At this time of year, definitely the difference between passing and failing.

Furthermore, the Cubs have been in the pennant race the past 3 years. Even if you get disappointed this year (Perish the thought ), they are likely to be in the playoffs again next year.

And the Cubs won't pay you or reward you in any way if you are a great fan. Your employer will reward you for passing exams.

I still wish I had studied more during the 2001 World Series (Yanks-Dbacks). I got a 5 on that attempt.

Good luck with your choices. And after last night, you've got to think about it again tonight. Stay on target.... and be thankful the Bulls won't take time away from you in late April.

Now another game to fret about. This time it will be even MORE important. Are you going yet?
