and i think romero had to get 8 outs in the top of the 11th (roughly), because of errors that weren't technically "errors", but plays that should have been made (wild pitch => guy on first, then had him picked off but errant throw, ...)

Red face Some questions on 7/13 vs. Arizona

It was pretty depressing the past few weeks. Why is Adam Eaton still on the payroll?

I took the kids to yesterday's game. While there was still some work to be done, we did see some encouraging signs.

Did anybody else see that game? I was out in left field (literally, not figuratively) and I did not get a close look at some of the calls at first base where it was not clear if Howard's foot was on the bag.

Eaton is on the payroll because nobody else wants him. Even if we cut him, he would still be on the payroll...

Watched some of the game. I was shocked they didn't pull Burrell for a Bunt Expert/Defensive Replacement at that point (bottom of the 8th, nobody out, runners at 1st & 2nd, tie game), like Bruntlett. Then hope the 6th or 7th hitter (if they IBB the 6th hitter) could get a sac fly and get the leading run in. Pretty gutsy of Manuel to let Pat swing, which he sure did...

If Gillick does nothing, this team will finish 15 games out of first place.

In poker talk, Gillick is Broomcorn's Uncle. He is going to let this team get blinded and anted to death until our stack is a little knub. Him and mgt appear like they will not give us a chance.

Take a chance. At least roll the dice with someone like Carrasco.

same reason so taguchi is. charlie is too much of a "player's manager" to cut (or at least do something with) players who aren't performing.

i wouldn't read into burrell's homer too much. qualls had been struggling lately. but hamels pitched very well, and stranded a lot of runners.

if you're talking about that play that made howard jump (the dp in, i think, the 5th), he was back down in time.

then again, if he does do something, we'll probably end up the same place, with a worse farm system.

i would agree, except that almost everybody in the minor league (director) says he's not quite ready. don't want to turn him into another gavin floyd.
