Garcia should benefit from move to NL Meyers is a solid 2 Hammels is a wild card in the 3 spot, IF he stays healthy and continues his development he has electric stuff and could be a premier pitcher but that is not a certianty. Eaton will struggle mightly in the that park I predict and ERA north of 5 is not out of the question. Moyer is 45 years old so you never know which year will be the end, not many have been sucessful at that age, though he has defied logic for sometime now so who knows. Lieber clearly looks at the back end of his career and a shell of the pitcher he was just a few years ago and barring injury to one of the 5 above Philly would be happy to move hime for just about anything. And as you implied, close your eyes when the pen is called.

Who doesn't have issues at #5? I think the Phils starting rotation is among the best, especially if Hamels continues to progress. Who else has the 1-5 depth. Garcia isn't going to dominate the way some aces do, but I think they'll be in the top 2-3 in the NL in ERA when it's all said and done.

Dodgers, Giants, & Marlins will all be better IMO. Az, Mil, Chi, SD, Cin, NYM all have as much potential as PHI STL is a big question mark as they don't even have 5 starters listed on the depth chart, I do not expect them to repeat as Worls Champion. Don't get me wrong I think Philly has a lot of potential this year and should contend for both the NL East & wild card spots, I just think saying they have the best rotation is a huge leap of faith. Unless the planets align just right I see Philly's staff as being somewhere around 4 to 9 in the NL. If they are close to that 4 number they probably win the East with thier offense, if they are close to 9 they probably miss the post season again.

If Garcia get's the 1/2 run shave off his ERA picthing to the 9 spot in the NL he'll be around 3.8. Meyers should be in the same neighborhood based on the past 2 years. A very good but not great 1-2. Hammels is as I said a big question mark especially with his minor and major league history of shoulder problems. I'd expect him to have a better chance than Garcia to be in the top 3 in ERA but I also think there is pretty decent chance he gets hurt sometime and doesn't come close to logging 200 innings. I don't expect Eaton, Moyer or Lieber to be particularly good at the back end. You have to rememeber you also play 81 games in that launching pad you call a stadium, talk about pin ball league. And I'm also factoring in that I don' think the pen will be very good which will lead to overworked starters. Oh and they were 11th in ERA last year, the off season moves haven't upgraded them that much that they should be expected to jump to 1 this year.

While it's still a hitter's park, they did make it bigger last year cutting down the # of HR by something like 7%. I don't think it's as much of a factor as you do, Eaton is also a ground ball pitcher, so I'm expecting pretty much a 1 run reduction in his ERA from the AL, same as I expect from Garcia.

I keep hearing about the Phillie pitching and I am sorry I just don't see it.
I like Hamels, we will see what he can bring in his 2nd year (didn't he have injury problems last year?) and Myers has good stuff (if he stays out of jail). I wouldn't bet that anyone else will have a sub 4.00 era, if even those two can
