Default GPA

If I had a 73% overall average in University of Waterloo, what would I put as my GPA on a 4.0 scale?

I found this with a google search:
http://www.ouac.on.ca/omsas/pdf/c_omsas_b.pdf

Looks like somewhere between a 3.00-3.30. You might want to e-mail an advisor for something a bit more precise.

You need to convert them course by course and then take the average (as opposed to converting the average).

What does "73% overall average" mean? How is this computed?

I agree with Wizard that the conversion-to-gpa needs to be done course by course, with a weighted average calculated using the credits awarded (or maybe hours earned?) as the weight.

I would put on the resume whatever is on the transcript - then you could add parenthetically your convertion

Definitely include some sort of conversion. My first guess at what a "73% overall average" means is that you averaged getting 73% on all of your college work. So a fairly low C. If it really equates to something >3.0 you absolutely want to point that out.

FYI, in Canada, 80% or above is A, 70%-80% is B, 60%-70% is C. This is standard in all Canadian post secondary institutions.

In America we have higher standards obviously. 94%+ is a 4.0.

What about the other grade ranges? Is it standard through the whole country or does it go by state like everything else? Oh and cough* grade inflation cough*.
