I liked "where ya'll at"
but I suppose this is more official.

Took lifecon 1 and 2 last year at college so a lot of the symbols/terms are already familiar. Though a lot are new, and certainly everything is more in depth.

I've gotten through life table characteristics and will be finishing insurance payable at moment of death today. Using TIA so no idea about chapters or anything other people are using.

Got through reading and doing some problems in survival distributions and insurance and some of the annuities. Stopped there, and looked at the markov chains and poisson stuff, which is really pretty easy.

I want to get a good jump for the May exams because I plan on doubling up MLC and MFE. I took MFE in November and am technically on the bubble, but I just have that feeling that I got the 5 (or even 4) after apparently guessing zero questions right out of any that I made a guess on, even educated ones.

Started last night -- using ASM exclusively until I find it necessary (if at all) to combine it with something else.

Flew through the two review sections, having just taken 4/C.

I spent a good amount of time fixing errata (notice, it was updated today 12/15/2009) and read through lessons 3 and 4. Wow, co-workers weren't joking about notation, this could take a bit to get use to...I've got letters going everywhere...

I'm starting as soon as my ASM manual(s) get here. I'm planning on doubling up with MFE and L. But apparently UPS is having difficulties and keeps rescheduling the drop off date, as per the tracking info...frustrating.

I started late last week. I am using ASM and Actuarial Mathematics. So far I am very glad that I have both. I find they complement each other very well.

The discussions in Actuarial Mathematics are very useful and help explain the concepts very well. In some cases (so far at least) it is explained more clearly in A.M. than ASM. I do appreciate the problem sets contained in ASM, though, as the exercises in A.M. are a lot more theoretical/less exam prep.

For what it's worth, I have also been looking over "Life Contingencies" which was apparently on the syllabus for this exam (or a similar) when my boss took the course. It is surprisingly well written for a technical mathematics text of its age (30+ years).

P.S. If you plan on using ASM alone, make sure to check the errata frequently. I have a feeling there are quite a few mistakes.
