Default Men who are really, ridiculously good-looking.

Are they all universally arrogant jerks? Is it possible to have a normal relationship with one? Beautiful men are rare (much more so than beautiful women), so they are spoiled with attention. Women throw themselves at them constantly and aggressively. These men don't even have to be rich, powerful or famous, just have a pretty face and hot body and a pinch of charisma, and they never have to try with a woman. There's always another one waiting around the corner.

Now I believe it's possible for a handsome man to be a decent, kind human being. But - back to my initial question - is it a good idea to date one? Has anyone done it here? I'm talking Josh Hartnett or Channing Tatum kind of good-looking. Very, very pretty, tall, hot amazing body, very sexy. There's one who's kinda interested in me, but I'm a sensible girl with a healthy sense of self-preservation, maybe this calls for a preemptive rejection.

Really, we're talking about pretty men and you go with Josh Hartnett and Ben Affleck?

To paraphrase Mrs. Bouvier, " I don't know who that are?"

Seriously I know who Ben Affleck is but have never heard of the other two characters.

I'm a pretty handsome guy myself, I'm often compared to a middle aged Ernest Bourgnine.

Josh Hartnett is totally hot. You're right about Ben Affleck, bad example. It's hard to think of examples of good-looking men! There really aren't so many of them. Brad Pitt when he was young. Kinda drawing a blank otherwise.

When else in your life are you going to have a chance to instill some humility into a rediculously good looking man?

By NOT calling him, right?

My brother was one in his youth. Physically fit, beautifully scuplted face, athletic, charming disposition - I'd give him a 9 when he was 25 years old. He's the only really handsome man I have known. He was an arrogant jerk, but he fell in love with a 5-6 and has stayed married and faithful to her for 15 years now. He's also a VERY loving husband and father. Don't know if it's a factor, but his looks deteriorated rapidly after 6-7 years of marriage. She has stayed the same. She is 41, but could easily pass off for a 30 year old.

So, there is a possibility it could work out. If nothing else, you've dated a hot guy and gotten an ego boost out of the fact that he's paying you some attention.

If you want more than a hookup with him, then correct, don't call him. Remember: "We pursue that which retreats from us. "

If you ever want to see a movie with good advice on dating (getting the person you want), watch "The Tao of Steve". It comes across as a guy movie, but I think it is really about the difference between being the chaser and the chasee.
