Kentucky coach Rich Brooks has announced that he is retiring after seven seasons coaching the Wildcats.

Brooks made the announcement on Monday. He will be replaced by offensive head coach Joker Phillips, who agreed to become Brooks’ eventual successor two years ago.

Tough job to have. I can't remember a time where Kentucky football was remotely meaningful. One of the few schools where football comes second to basketball and it has the terrible fate of being in an incredibly ridiculous conference. At least UConn has a chance of winning their conference in the future.

You can't remember back to 2009?

Kentucky football was meaningful when they beat LSU in 2007. It meant LSU had to win the rest of their games to win the BCS Championship.

I am glad of this change simply because it means that Joker will no longer be offensive coordinator. UK may have made four straight bowl appearances, but it seems to me they could have had much better regular season results than what they had. I think their play calling was woeful at times.

I thought this thread would be about Heath Ledger getting the position.

I was at that UK game and it kind of made up for two other games: UK 7 OT loss to Arkansas ("longest" game at the time) and the awful loss to LSU on the tipped Hail Mary pass where some UK fans didn't even see the play and proceded to tear down the goal posts as if they had won. It gave them a win over LSU and a multiple overtime win.
