I recently bought a laptop with built-in bluray player.
Laptop is hooked up to a HDTV via HDMI, and the output is 1080p. Everything is working, and the bluray picture quality is DVD-like. I have seen bluray on PS3, and they are truly stunting. Any settings on the ATI video card that I can mess around with? |

Do you have an HD monitor?

No, just a 1080p TV.

One thing to mention though this is probably not the case, some bluray discs/players will attempt to detect that all devices and software along the chain (including cables!) are HDCP compliant and if they are not, they will not properly play the video.
I say this is probably not the case because I've heard that the quality would be significantly worse than DVD quality. |

TV is set to just scan, so TV shouldn't be the reason.

This seems like a task that would be difficult to fix through a series of message board posts.

How would overscan make a BRD look like a DVD?

I might be able to figure it by googling/posting on message boards/etc, but I have an exam to sit for. Couple hundred dollars seem like a wash compares to the bonus/raise from getting a ACAS. |
