Cover letter to carpet bomb SOA directory

What i am doing now is to put the whole cover letter in the email body. But for those of you who did this and got a job, did you tailor it to each specific company, especially for something like why do you want to work for XXX company? If so, what's the quick shortcut to do this? or i'm just being lazy here....it takes me a while to figure out what to say about why i want to work for a company simply b/c i just desperately want a damn entry level actuarial job no matter what and where it is.
