If you haven't gotten a raise for two years, your boss just doesn't feel like firing you. He's probably shocked every time he sees you at your desk. "What's he doing here? I thought we stopped giving him raises two years ago."

Hey, you can take that $20 downtown and have a pretty fun 5 minutes.

They still give token raises to people they like. You think your boss isn't getting a raise?

Completed my first year on the job, got a 3.5% raise. I suppose I should be happy with that. Thought it would be more though. Tacked on 2 more exams and my review was excellent. Damn economy.

While there were some raises given this year here. There were generally none except 3, 6 and 12 month ones last year. Generally management did not get raises and non-management got an average of about 1-2%. Most of us are happy the company is still paying a salary and hope it is still doing so into the future as well.

Indeed. But come on. If you got a .1% raise, you'd be pretty insulted. For a few moments, that's what I thought my boss was saying (Because it's what he actually said), and I was trying to contain my "what the giraffe?" face.

Good point. In my case, no one got raises. If if were getting a teensy raise, I'd assume that others were getting real ones.

Pretty funny misunderstanding, though!
