You would be better off with an AT&T version and buying a data SIM from the country which you are in.

Alternatively, you could just get a wifi version and pick up a Mifi-type device such as the Novatel 2352 which will accept any GSM SIM card.
International data roaming is cheap with Verizon IF you call ahead and change your plan. When I went to Canada last year, I switched to a special plan that only cost me about $1/day for data roaming in Canada. Had I done nothing and accepted the default roaming scheme, my bill would have been over $500 by my estimation.

It was so easy to make the change. They even flipped it back off the day I came back into the US. Cost me about $8 total.

Then what the hell do you need internet for? Enjoy the view, read a book, unplug from the system man!

I was in Aruba in November. My hotel had free internet. There is no 3G service outside of the tourist areas (if you're planning to leave them).

Interesting info guys.

Ahow, you mean buying a sim card for the country I am in? How much will that run? Calling to turn it on sounds easier...

Either way, if I get a 3G version, sounds like it should be Verizon...

When I got my "special" plan, I couldn't find any mention of it on VZW's site either. I had to call.

Generally in life, asking for deals greatly increases the chances you'll get them. It's hard to ask a web page for things.

One thing I wish I had was a way to watch football. Especially since I hit up the sportsbook.

I was there in October. And the prior year for honeymoon. Amazing.

we are going back next november

I'm confused though, if you go to the sportsbook, then you have a way to watch football.

As I recall, I had ESPN in my room and watched a Monday Night Football game while my wife slept. (or part of it, their time zone made it difficult to finsih)

Yeah, night games aren't a problem cause i watch at the bars. I feel I am wasting a day if I did that for the Sunday afternoon games tho. That's why I want to watch on the beach.
