It's impossible to say. Even if Jobs stayed the next 20 years, Apple might decline. Their success was incredible. It took the right combination of vision and timing. Nothing lasts forever though.

The Pope might beg to differ.

According to a new quarterly report from McAfee, Android has now soared to the top as the most targeted platform for malware. In only three months time, Android has gone from third most attacked platform to the first. Another recent report from Lookout claimed a similar upward climb in Android malware infected apps.
The pie chart in the article shows a number of other mobile platforms. iOS is absent, though:

Malware incidences on Apple’s iOS have been so negligible that it has not made the list.
Fanboy / Fandroid commentary aside, why is this happening? Is Apple's gatekeeper effect really that effective? Other explanations?

He waited too long to become a fanboy. Didn't he just get an iPad recently?

From an old joke.
Actuaries can only tell you how many are expected to die.
Mob bosses can tell you which ones.

Here is a really good pdf about security on iOS and Android.

http://www.symantec.com/content/en/u...y_june2011.pdf

Also, here is a little more details on the security features specifically about iOS.

http://www.infoworld.com/print/162792

I can't find it right now, but there was one that compared Windows, Android, iOS, OSX, and Linux across a bunch of different criteria like code signing, dep, ASLR, sandboxing and so on. I'll keep looking for it.

Whenever people find out I'm an actuary, they like to say, "Actuary? Can you tell me when I'm going to die?" I pull out my gun, put it against their head, and say, "Yep." Then I wink at them so they know I'm kidding.
