Suppose the current date is sold today, Feb 20, 2010.

In 38D, payments will be made only within 10 years of today, so there will be no payments on Feb 20, 2020 or later, no matter when anyone dies. If 65 lives 10 years, there will be no payments.

In 38F, it can continue until 10 payments are made, if 55 is alive and 65 is dead. So if 65 dies March 1, 2025, 55 might receive payments on Feb 20, 2026 through Feb 20, 2035.
