Default Sarah Palin: create law based on the God of the bible and the 10 commandments

Quote:
Sarah Palin joined Fox News's Bill O'Reilly recently to condemn the critics of the National Day of Prayer, saying that the Judeo-Christian belief was the basis for American law and should continue to be used as a guiding force for creating future legislation.
According to Palin, the recent backlash against the National Day of Prayer is proof that some people are trying to enact a "fundamental transformation of America" and to "revisit and rewrite history" in order to shift the Christian nation away from its spiritual roots.
Palins's advice: "Go back to what our founders and our founding documents meant -- they're quite clear -- that we would create law based on the God of the bible and the ten commandments.
"What in hell scares people about talking about America's foundation of faith?" Palin continued. "It is that world view that involves some people being afraid of being able to discuss our foundation, being able to discuss God in the public square, that's the only thing I can attribute it to."
Palin also criticized the decision to dis-invite the Rev. Franklin Graham from a Pentagon prayer service over concerns about his past inflammatory rhetoric about Islam, saying it was driven by a desire to be overly politically correct.

I'm sure Jesus really approved of Europeans coming over to America and decimating the (pagan) Native American population.

Thomas Jefferson would very likely tell her [in elqouent terms] that she was incorrect. Whether she would understand what he said is left for others to discuss.

James Madison would say the same thing, but probably be more blunt about it.

Interesting thread. I know Martin Luther King would have agreed emphatically with Palin. (You only have to read his Letter from Birmingham Jail to understand that King believed that laws were either "just" or "unjust"; just laws were consistent with God's laws and unjust laws were inconsistent with God's laws.)

I think Palin took it as a challenge when she revealed to Katie Couric that she doesn't read anything regularly. She needs to start simpler, though, before she attempts to tackle the writings of our founders. May I suggest - Highlights magazine? Please, Mrs. Palin, hone your reading and comprehension skills before attempting to make an intelligent argument.

Thanks!

Yes, but Dr. King lived in a time where many laws were either immoral or selectively enforced. Dr. King's (real) enemies were the equivalent of Sarah Palin's straw men, who are 'afraid' to discuss God in the public square.
