Yeah, I can give them my throw away address anyway. I think I was just lacking momentum that day. I should try it.

Agree, the iOS keyboard is far superior. If it wasn't for Swype, I probably would have taken the thing back in my 30 days. Swype isn't perfect but it's a good alternative. Early on, I downloaded "Better Keyboard". It isn't.

Permanent in Canada and need to be able to handle frequent travel to the Caribbean (need to use a local gsm sim card while there).

My recent phones have all been HTC winmo and I prefer a physical keyboard, nice but not requisite (not when it's on company dime for "testing" purposes).

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll head over to the local chinese mall and see what's available this side of the 49th (this android requirement from above is making things more difficult).

according to Greg Hall, vice president of merchandising at Walmart US, there's a "perception among customers that prepaid service doesn't offer access to the best phones or the best network quality." In order to combat that, the outfit will be launching a new postpaid service today dubbed Walmart Family Mobile.
Interesting counter trend...

Wow, they really could not have made rooting the Samsung Epic (or any Galaxy S phone) any easier. Install the USB drivers, reboot your PC, double click the batch file... PROFIT! Just did a Titanium Backup of the wife's phone. Tomorrow we are going to CM6 it.

By the way, I probably wouldn't have bothered rooting it but the dialer that Samsung put on this thing is atrocious. Constantly calling people when she doesn't want it to. Hopefully CyanogenMod cures it.

I've had this problem too. Not a huge fan of the Galaxy-S dialer, but I'm not even close to being at the level where I'd feel comfortable rooting the phone.

You may want to try Dialer One. It's pretty well rated with lot's of downloads and appears to be doing what it should in the permissions.

Yeah, you definitely don't have to root to change your dialer.
