Either way my suggestion would be to go find another field pronto and hope that none of these guys recognize you for your attitude/demeanor if they meet you one day.
Are there really people on this forum who are so vicious, they would hunt down a newbie who wrote a post which sounded conceited, and start a campaign to blackball that person from an entire field? That's really extreme. Also hard to imagine how this campaign would work... would you set up a booth at an SOA meeting and hand out flyers? The field isn't that small, and I think it's a pretty small percentage that would be as interested as you are in figuring out who the OP is IRL. I think you're just enjoying trying to scare him, which is nasty.

Seems a little extreme, i agree. You would have to be pretty petty/ have nothing to do.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone of here would stalk the crap outta ya and use his findings as an attempt to black ball. Not you per say, but you know what I mean. I was kind of a bic at my internship a few years ago. After it was over, I didn't get one interview from my old college's actuarial career fair. I don't think it was a coincidence or due to the economy down-tick. Actuaries talk. I mean, who else would want to hang out with actuaries except fellow actuaries. Gossip is a fun topic to discuss. Put two and two together.

I guess someone who would get pissed in RL about AO would have to be a big enough nerd to seek revenge like that.

It's alright. There's a good chance you'll end up at a company where you're the youngest in the office by 10+ years. You don't want to establish real friendships with your co-workers either; it could led to unneeded leverage. Always good to keep a balance between work people and real friends.

Maybe its the Latin course my high school made me take but its "per se" not "per say". But yeah I think this guy is either trolling or trying to one up your campaign.

he said "thrown" when he meant "throne" earlier. I try to ignore the enormous number of elementry school level grammatical errors on this board.
