Every year I think UNC is going to win the ACC. Every year I'm horribly wrong.

I think that Bama has to be #1 until beaten. They have not lost a regular season game in 2 years.
I will preface by saying OU should not be #1, maybe not top 10. Alabama should definitely by preseason #1.

That being said, OU was absolutely decimated by injuries to starters last year. They lost by 1 to BYU and Miami. They lost by 3 to Texas, and they lost by 7 to Nebraska....TTech did destroy them.

Steele is predicting the final standings, according to will.

His prediction probably implies that OU will go undefeated while no other team of consequence will. Its "easy" schedule makes this possible.

Still don't see Texas out of the top 10. Losing Shipley hurt the worst, but that defense is absolutely stacked. I think Gilbert will have a better year than OU's QB Jones as well.

As has been pointed out earlier, the poll does not necessarily rank teams strictly based on how good they are perceived to be. Scheduling plays a major factor, which is a major reason why Boise St is ranked so high (in addition to returning 21 starters).

I'm surprised that no one here bought NCAA Football 11 yesterday, simulated a season, then reported back who won the NC and what the final standings were.

Most preseason polls that I have seen have them in the top 12. They have a fairly easy schedule (@ Washington and A&M, home vs Texas and Mizzou).

Nebraska last year could easily have been a 1 loss team. They lost on the last second to Va Tech by 1 point, lost 9-7 to ISU after turning the ball over 7 time (4 times inside the 20), and 1 point to Texas on the 0:01 field goal.

I think they are getting hyped this preseason based on the way they finished last year (winning 6 of 7 with the only loss to Texas and they crushed Arizona 33-0 in the Holiday Bowl). Yes, they lose Suh on D and there will probably be a slight drop, but the Pelini Bros know how to coach defense and Crick and Steinkuhler should be good enough to fill in at DT. And the O returns basically everyone and can't be any worse than last year (#99 total offense).

Big 12 predictions:
Nebraska wins North.
Mizzou 2nd.
Kansas State 3rd.
Kansas 4th.
Iowa State 5th.
Colorado Last.

Texas A&M wins South.
Texas 2nd.
Oklahoma 3rd.
OK State 4th.
Texas Tech 5th.
Baylor 6th.

Nebraska plays for national title against Boises State and loses.
Texas A&M plays in a BCS bowl and crushes whoever they play.

Bold? Maybe. But hey, why not. Pick your favorite conference and throw out your predictions.
