Well, I heard on the radio this morning that there was one holdout on the jury. And Blago interprets this as showing, "I didn't do anything wrong."

:sigh:

Now I suppose this thread need to go to Political or something.

Actuarial politics does properly belong in this forum, I think.

I'm not sure it needs to get moved. I didn't start the thread to open a discussion on Blago, it's more to question how the SOA leadership can make a public statement like this.

You may not think it was a public statement, but there is a link to the account from the SOA website and the account is titled PrezMike it's not like its a personal blog with no association to the SOA. Right above the link to the twitter account are the words "follow us".

One can have multiple twitter accts, btw - many people do this to separate personal statements from official ones.

And plenty of twitter clients that allow one to manage multiple accounts easily (so you don't have to login/logout repeatedly)

While I think it's less and less possible to maintain different personas in life, I think this is a great example of why having multiple Twitter accounts can be a good idea, especially if you use Twitter for business or "official" things.

As for the SOA, I think it makes sense to have 1 official Twitter handle that gets used by whoever is president at the time. I.e. don't link it to one person, and that one person should also have their own to express personal views (if they want).

For example, something more generic like @SOA_Pres would be good (available right now).

It would be understood that whoever uses that handle would do so on behalf of the SOA.

This is also another reason social media policies are good idea.
