Default Do I need a cover letter?

If I am applying for an internship or a full time position via my school's career website?

If you are unfamiliar with how these things work, we have a career website where employers post openings. Your account already has all of your info on it, and you upload your resume onto the site. All you do to apply is press a button and it requests an interview.

I asked a friend who goes to a good school and has already had 3 internships. He told me that it is not needed in this case. I have already applied for 3 positions on there, and I am wondering if I should cancel my application and re-apply with a cover letter.

The way my school's worked, some of the job listings also had a button to click and submit a cover letter right next to the submit resume button. It also wouldn't let you complete the application without submitting a cover letter if it was required by the company. So you are probably ok.
