You are making the mistake of assuming republican party = tea party. The tea party doesn't have a tiff, but some of the establishment republicans aren't fond of the tea party. Still, the tea party recognized it had to hitch its horse to dems or reps to move their agenda, and the dems didn't seem at all interested. Now the tea party is reminding the establishment republicans that the "republicans" aren't who won this election, it was cut spending/deficit/debt minded folks who expect the reps to listen or suffer a similar fate. I don't see how this letter is the least bit surprising. I'd be more surprised if it hadn't been sent.

TDA's new avatar is too freakishly huge. I'd be afraid of suffocating if I messed around in those things.

Dana Loesch works just fine, thank you. Not that there's anything wrong with Kristi...

I thought Omikron's avatar was Natalie Imbruglia

(google image searches Natalie Imbruglia, hits control-P and heads to bathroom)

But a casual observation indicates that those Tea PArty candidates that were successful - even in the primaries - had considerable ground support from the social conservatives. You can like em or hate em, but you can't ignore the fact that the Christian Right is well funded and very adept at getting out the vote.

You don't think these same people are getting hit on by the fundamentalists?

Meh, the GOP has like 2 factions...the Dems have like 18. I think the GOP will survive the infighting. The libertarians took a back seat for 8 years of Bush, so sorry Crristian Right.

Yeah but who else is the RR going to vote for? Dems?

If the recently elected R's start drafting an agenda of social conservatism the Tea Partiers aren't afraid to vote for a Dem (hopefully at least a semi-fiscally conservative one) that is enough to tip the scales.

45% that would never vote Dem AND
45% that would never vote Rep puts the other
10% in a very nice position.

At the moment, the focus is on keeping body and soul together. Work, food, shelter, savings, good governance, that sort of thing. Even for the Christian right.
