I'm really confused by this since it's cbt
With a new cbt exam there won't be preliminary results until there is some experience with giving the exam as a cbt.

So this first CBT session is going to be considerably easier than the last pencil and paper session right?

Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it.

On what basis can one claim that the first CBT MFE will probably be easier than pencil and paper MFE?

On the basis that it can't be any harder???? At least, compared to the last paper/pencil sitting.

A more serious answer is this....I guess they've been amassing a question bank for some time now. Many of those questions were thus created during periods of greater sanity amongst the exam committee. Hopefully some of the questions you're going to see on the first sitting are more on par with, say, Fall 2009, or even Spring 2009. I'm sure there will be some where I need to read 2-3 confusing paragraphs followed by 8-10 minutes of algebraic manipulation (i.e. like last sitting), but only some.

Sittings generally get very difficult leading up to the first CBT sitting while the exam committee is calibrating test questions, and then the first couple CBT sittings are generally considered considerably less difficult in comparison.
