So I have 3 job offers. One in p&c consulting, one in life, and one in health consulting. The health consulting is on the low end. I'd prefer to be in p&c, but not a consulting role. Any suggestions on how to make the big decision? I'm really excited right now because I thought my chances of getting an offer with only one exam were slim, but overwhelmed by the significance and impact it will have on my future and career.
On a side note, I'm graduating in may and will be getting married in August. When should I make my hiring company aware of this? |

Call them when you are accepting the offer, to ask when they want you to start. If it's not acceptable to you, let them know when you want to start and be as flexible as you can. During the same conversation, let them know how much vacation time you need in August for your wedding/honeymoon (unless the start date they ask for is later than your honeymoon would be over). If you won't have accrued enough vacation time by then (which you likely won't) ask if they would let you take unpaid time off. Usually such requests, made at the time of accepting the offer, are granted.
Re the 3 jobs, how did you feel about the office culture at each of them? |

Congratulations! Another thought on the wedding: my husband and I postponed our honeymoon till 4 months after the wedding- we relocated a few weeks after marrying and it was just too much stuff at once. If you can't get all of the time off you want in August, postponing the honeymoon might be an option. If you live in a cold climate, the Caribbean in February might be a good option!

Don't blame others for being a better interviewee. That's how the game works. There are brain-dead people who can get offers in this industry.

I would run a monte carlo simulation to model which pick you should make.

Also, yes, there are hiring managers out there that might be swayed by a pair of boobs in a tight shirt or a flash of leg-above-the-knee. Does it "make sense"? Not quite. But it's real.

Hah I once insinuated that the latter may be true and I was awarded infraction points. I wrote something about attractive female candidates having a far easier time finding internships- even when they are comparatively unqualified.
