Small company, part of very large conglomerate. Just craziness every day. Writing business with unapproved rates. Applying rating factors that didn't exist (literally had a program where the u/w had an adjustment factor of 0.1 embedded into a spreadsheet calculating rates - giving everyone he quoted a 90% discount!). Writing large commercial accounts and then coding the data into our premium system however you wanted so that it added up to the total you agreed upon. Didn't matter if the $300,000 account was 50% property, 20% GL, and 30% Auto, they might code it as $100K to property, $100K to GL, and $100K to auto.

But the best was a co-worker who told another co-worker to their face, "You are the dumbest fcuking person that I have ever met in my life." She wasn't the dumbest, but was definitely below average.

I lasted their about 1.5 years. The stress was just too much to bear.

Sometimes we release numbers that have only been double-checked.

I used to work with FormLetter. That was a horrible experience. Worst part, all of the appliances in the kitchen were always disassembled, could never make lunch.

Getting stuck by a used needle while inventorying IV bags in the campus medical center and then spending three hours wondering if I'd just managed to contract AIDS without even having kissed anyone.

Accepting a job at "Simon the Pie Man" only to find out that they do not produce fruit pies, but rather meat pies. My first day on the job my boss lead me over to an industrial sized sink full of kidneys and said "Cut these up." It was at that point that I realized that perhaps I should take my education a little more seriously.

Free steak and kideney pie? Free kidney pie? I would love that job. Maybe.
