TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT
trondogss gets: Starlin Castro + 7.12
glitto2 gets: 6.13

I'm super excited. I got my first homer selection in Starlin Castro. You will all be sorry when he turns into a combination of Jose Reyes and Hanley.

Hanley's fielding and Reyes' injury proneness?

Time out... trondogss has realized he doesn't have a pick in round 10 to keep Castro with. I've pointed out to him that he can try to acquire someone's 10.xx or keep Castro with 9.13. But I'm also fine with giving him a mulligan if he wants it and nobody is strongly against it. It's not at a critical time of the year, and he caught it quickly enough.

Any comments?

If he doesn't get a 10th, he should just keep with 9.13. It's probably worth it to him as a homer anyway.

Is there a penalty to taking your keeper in an earlier round than what he was originally available. For example, even though I have Castro as a 10th round keeper, if I was stupid enough, I could pick him in the 5th round to essentually screw over his keeper status next year.

Yes. You can take him with any pick up to and including the 10th rounders, but obviously there is value this year (and the next 2) in taking him with the latest possible one (although 9th & 10th equal 5th next year, so 9.13 isn't really a 'stretch', relative to using a 7th or 8th to keep him).

ETA: Although it will just be assumed that you will be keeping with the latest possible, available pick, which is where all these "fall back" trade props come from (getting value from taking late in the given round, if possible).

Time in. trondogss is okay with possibly having to keep Castro with 9.13 (or maybe he really wants to use that 5th round for him...), so I'll confirm the deal.
