Default Help!! Need to rip region 2 DVDs

I got a few DVDs for Christmas from my sister. Trouble is they are region 2. I've been watching then on my PC through VLC, and there's no worries there. I want to be able to watch them on my TV and so far it's no luck. I tried Handbrake last night, and it ripped an episode into a .m4v. The audio was fine, but the video was totally messed up. I've also tried to rip it the disc using DVD Decrypter a few different times, but it keeps giving me a fatal error after the first .vob file. I even reinstalled DVD Decrypter last night but it didn't change anything.

I'm indifferent if the end product is a burnt DVD I can play or just media files on my PC (can play them through the TV or PS3). I just want to watch my shows from a couch.

Any ideas?

Huh. I came in here to suggest DVD Decrytper. If that can't do it, I assume it can't be done. That's always dangerous to say though.

Have you tried DVDDecrypter + DVD Shrink (or RipIt4Me which is a front end for those)?

Also, is region 2 NTSC or PAL? If PAL, you might need to google "Convert PAL to NTSC DVD"

Not sure if they're NTSC or PAL... will look into that tonight. I want to say PAL, but I don't know.

DVD Decrypter says it will strip the region code, and it starts just fine. But as soon as it finishes the first file and tries to go to the second, it blows up.

I have DVD Shrink, I'll try that one tonight as well.

DVD Shrink won't work if DVD Decrypter blows up since it uses the results from that...
But if it is PAL, start with google.

If you can watch it on VLC, you can rip it.

That is an older article that I wrote but should still be applicable.

w/ DVD decrypter: 1) read .iso 2) strip region 3) write .iso or use dvd shrink. Dual layer media isn't that expensive anymore, IMO, so I like to keep quality these days.

I wouldn't get into the .VOBs unless you need to (you do if you want to divide a dual-layer disc into two singles). DVD shrink can read an .iso. If it can't, mount the .iso to daemon tools.

Also, imgburn seems to be the new dvd decryptor. Not sure if the same people made it, but it seems like an updated one or something. Maybe it's stripped down?

If all else fails - use dvd fab. If that, then DVD Shrink.
