Default Fairness of CAS3 Results out 3 weeks before SOA3

Any other SOA people out there think it is unfair that people who took the CAS 3 know whether or not they passed 3 weeks before the SOA people do given that everybody will more than likely be taking the same course 4 exam in May if they passed. It seems to me that the CAS people get an extra 3 weeks of anxiety free studing.

IT'S NOT FAIR!! IT'S NOT FAIR!! IT'S NOT FAIR!!

Any thoughts?

Nothing's fair. Switch societies or stop whining.

They also wrote the exam before we did, giving them less time to be ready for course 3. If you are so worried about the extra 3 weeks, then why don't you start stuying from now? The extra 3 weeks also involves christmas break (2 weeks of it, which, if i did have my results back, wouldn't be studying during anyway).

I don't think that it is a huge advantage given that no one is preventing you from studying for course 4 or 6 or whichever you plan to do next.

The CAS3 was given 10/30 and the SOA3 was given 11/04, so this by itself produces a week (6 days) expected difference in release date of grades.

The rest is do to a different overall set of procedures by the two societies.

CAS: No release date announced in advance.
Results of each exam released separately as soon as it is ready.

SOA: A release date announced in advance.
Results of each exam released the same day.

(Joint exams follow the SOA adminstrative rules.)

Each method has both advantages and disadvantages.

As a member of the CAS, who was among the many who helped determine the CAS way of handling this, I prefer the CAS method on balance.
(My preference is not based on the release date for one exam at one sitting.)
