Default Why Life insurance?

Hi all,

I have an upcoming phone interview for an summer internship at an life insurance company. I am not really sure how to answer the question, "Why do want to work in a life insurance company?"

I would appreciate any answers.

Thanks
-Sourabh

I'm not sure what you expect to see here. How are we supposed to answer a question that is dependent entirely on your own preferences?

I am trying to get a feel on why people choose Life insurance over P&C.

"Why wouldn't I want to work in a life insurance company?"

Turn it back on them. It'll make you seem confident like a boss.

Don't want to work in pensions, health makes you nervous with all of the regulatory crap happening and the potential for more in the future. So it's a tossup between what's remaining and you'd take an internship in any of them just to get some experience.

You think there's good potential in life insurance for those who may bomb the russians, crash into the sun, and then die.

Mention that when you talk to corporate.

I'm going to guess that the reason most people are in any field is because that's the field they got their first job in.

There are some field-changers out there, and the reasons for the switch are as many in number as there are changers.

If you can't come up with a good answer of why you would want to work at each of the fields, then perhaps learn how to lie really well use the search function and pull up some of the done-and-done-again threads like this.

An interesting twist I've seen done with that question is to deflect it and instead talk about why you'd want to work for that company, and not just "life insurance" in general.

Life insurance products are often tied to investments due to the length of the contract, whereas P&C contracts are much shorter term. If you're interested in finance/investments, that's a reason to choose Life over P&C.
