this opening sentence alone makes it geared towards pleasing men, not women. women are the ones known for liking romantic. the author is saying to skip all that though.

"This Valentine’s Day, skip the chocolate, lingerie and jewelry. Instead, practice talking less, doing the dishes and putting out. Romantic? Maybe not. The secret to a life of wedded bliss? Quite possibly."

A big enough rack could cool a lot of cookies.

The rack does have to fit into the sink.

I do "dishes," which are actually all the supplies my wife uses to make dinner -- and, last night, choc.chip cookies. I'm much better at them than my wife. I'd like her to use fewer supplies. Last night there were two different sizes of scoopers. WTF? And those are hard to clean. Three cooling racks? Really? Three? I could probably cool cookies using only one rack. The racks are also hard to clean, rinse, and dry.
Enough of my marriage complaints.
lol, the cookies come out nicer if you have space to spread them out as they cool. I usually use two racks, and even so, have to move them around and stack them up as I go, and if you stack them too soon they bend or stick or otherwise don't cool properly.

The racks are hard to clean and rinse, though. (But hard to dry? I just put them in the drying rack with whatever else needs to dry, they do fine. It's not like you care if they spot from a drip that dried in place or something.)

1), 2), 4), and 5) seem pretty gender neutral.

The dishes one if the only gender-related one, but the point of it was women are usually better at dishes. So you do dishes, while the guy takes out the trash or calls the in-laws quickly. It implied pretty heavily that if the guy is better at dishes and the women is better at calling in-laws, then it should be done that way to be more efficient.
What? They were all gender related. Did you see the note about "him" returning late from work or something like that?
Putting out? Do you know anything about the stats regarding who generally wants to be having more sex?

I think the line about presenting flowers was put in to throw the scent off of everything else. Even the scheming this, upon examination, was about making arrangements for things without bothering the other spouse about them and making a "fuss".

If you found this neutral then maybe you should bow out of the misogyny debates, seriously. Clue number one is the poster sharing this article with us in his OP.

I don't think she has the calm, strong presence of a man around the house telling her to do dishes and to put out more. Makes her irritable.

Hmmm, in addition to caring for the kids, my hubby is very romantic. YMMV.

don't know what YMMV means. so, you're saying romance is important then? the article is saying to ditch all that.

FWIW, Wife Yo and I have a "separate but equal" relationship. She may do the dishes, I may take out the trash and recycling and fix appliances. Not 100% of the time, because we don't have to make rules, but it just works out that way. We each know what we're better at.
