If it's "unplanned purchases made that night", I'd guess somewhere around $500.

I am sure I spent 5 to 10k.

A nice dinner with a bottle of wine is 1,000 bucks, that doesn't count good seats at a cultural event, blow etc.

yeah me too. About $500 on a couple bachelor parties.

I had a $600 restaurant bill (b/t 4 people) that I tried to pay once but was blocked by a more senior member.

I spent ~$2000 on airplane tickets last night

Not sure if that's the most at any one time or not. It's a lot though.

Transportation and lodging count also? I spent an ungodly amount of money on a few extravagant vacations.

Vacations- about $7,000. That was a honeymoon in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2003.

Other than that, pretty modest for our income bracket. The best was dinner with friends at Simpson's in Strand around 2004. We took a classic London black cab from our hotel to a friend's flat, passing Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace, then went over Tower Bridge. The friend's flat had a view of Tower Bridge. We took cabs to the restaurant, where we had a long, liesurely dinner that ran about $100 apiece with wine. My husband and I then decided not to repeat the expensive cab ride and it started to rain as we hunted for the nearest Underground station. We joked that "break the bank night" was over and we were turning into peasants again. The evening may have cost $300 in total. Any other experiences in that category generally involve some exotic location and something we really wanted to see/do.

If we're counting airfare, $3,300 on Business Class to Madrid in May. We paid for my ticket and used miles for his.

For being in the top 5% of income earners, we are some cheap *******s. I probably spent no more than 500 bucks on a night out on the town.
