They seem to care if you claim to have done something that they themselves have proven unable to do.

Much like high school, some people are more fascinated in what goes on in other people's lives than in dealing with their own.

Meh. I post my trades because I like to talk about what I'm doing, and I feel that without backup one way or the other it's sort of empty. Even if I'm lying about actually making the trades (I'm not), I'm posting most in reasonable time to show the profit on paper and it's verifiable from that standpoint. It ain't rocket science.

I really don't give a crap one way or another, but nobody has really questioned the validity of my journal. Some think it's ultimately a losing proposition, and that's fine. They'll either be right or wrong, and I'll document my crash and burn if it happens and man up about it.

Meh, I wouldnt have any reason to doubt axjokes trades, I would be interested in seeing axjoke's, IB, and anyone else's trades. I'm more interested in seeing the different strategies and picks as they occur daily. I think it could be cool and could be an educational experience to many people. I sometimes venture into GT trading but it mostly has been in gold. So please do post even if I'm a SOOL for looking into it further. BG feel free to start a thread too.

People are much more likely to talk about success than to bring up failures. That goes for every poster here. If the data is being made up and/or you're only getting one side of the story, it matters little to any of us ... so I don't see any need for some to get worked up over it.
See above, I doubt that the above would be anything but an exception. As it is I've read a few of the books that axjoke had recommended previously, out of the ones that I've read, I'd say Fooling some people all of the time has been the best combo of entertainment/educational. Then again ive only read a couple of the recommendations.

Oh, goody. My personal favorite as well. Another good book is Mr. China. Sets the proper tone for investing in china. Although it's also been made abundantly clear lately with the Yahoo/Alipay fiasco, sEC filing i linked previously... etc. (and that's a huge ETC!)

Lots more fireworks to come.

I haven't tried trading this market in over a year. When the S&P is pushing 1300 on government intervention and blind hope, and people are chirping about the market being cheap based on corporate earnings that are projected to be at or near all-time highs despite the fact that the economy has clearly slowed [after the government's slush fund dried up] and shows no sign of picking up at a notable pace [beyond blind hope], it's difficult to separate fact from fiction.

The last trade I made was in '09; after thinking the S&P would fall from about 800, I bought into an index fund around 890 and sold out around 1010 - otherwise, I've been in cash at a minimum 5% return. So, I missed out on the near-double in the S&P ... but I also missed out on the entire ride down from the 1500s to 666. By my math, that still puts me ahead of everyone who rode the roller coaster down and up.

How are you getting 5% on cash?
