Copying AA's format (which is madness, looks like he pasted this out of a spreadsheet):

The Afghan Whigs - Neglekted - 4 points - Greg Dulli could sleep with my girlfriend and write a song about it, and I would love that song. Would that I could assign this as many points as there are grains of sand in all the beaches in all the world.

The Human Abstract - Vela, Together We Await The Storm - 3 points - With the vivimetal submitted up to this point, I always thought "This would be better if the guy was screaming. Instead it sounds like Queensryche." Now we have screaming, and it is good. Also I had to listen maybe 3 or 4 times to really get a handle on the song, which is also good.

Utah Saints - Something Good - 2 points - I think Utah Saints was one of the first 10 cds I owned. I also paid actual money for their second album (which came out ten years after the first). This does sound a little dated now but I still like it.

Dead Can Dance - The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove - 2 points - Has a loungey feel that I like (and I realize this is kind of a goth anthem, though I'd never actually heard it before).

Cursive - Butcher The Song - 0 points - I'm with punmanbowler, this is terrible. Although it's not the first time you all loved a song that I hated.

Hawkwind - High Rise - 0 points - Also terrible, but they kind of had an excuse since it was the 70s.

After that, I need to venture into the Blandmuda Triangle to pick 4 1-point songs out of the remaining 9. So each of the following gets 1 point:

Young the Giant (the best of these 9 imo)
Larry and his Flask (liked the lyrics)
Brooke Fraser
Blue Merle

Out of a google doc, actually, but same difference.

I thought you would like my song more this round, but in retrospect I'm not sure that was a sound assumption. I think I keep thinking of how much you liked Vitallic and that meant that you generally liked my submissions. Maybe it is love/hate. Last contest it was 2,4,0,0,3,0. Although that theory doesn't hold this time as I've gotten 1s across the board from you.

[Obvious GG response]
Easy: Just submit more unbearably terrible techno, and you're bound to win.

The Skrillex song was most definitely techno. Pretty Lights is close enough.

*samples-based
*loud
*danceable
*lack of a real drummer

They're techno.

I admit my definition is probably broader than yours.

It's just that no one outside of this thread has called it techno since like 1994. 2 Unlimited is techno. Utah Saints could be called techno because it's in the right time period.

This is awesome. I think I've posted it before, but I don't know if you've checked it out.
