Yeah, I was considering Trial By Fire, Practice What You Preach, and Dog Faced Gods as well. I'm very partial to Return to Serenity, though, like I said in my comments, probably my favorite trash metal ballad of all time.

Alright, I'm halfway through my first listen through, and I'm not kidding when I say I have about 24 points allocated so far. I am in love with this round. Everyone just went for it in their own style since there's not a lot of hope to catch Abstract, and there is some seriously bad ass stuff here.

So, part of my concern was that Here and Now was going to fare better than Banditos, since I made the switch. However, the fact that they came out even (and tied for second to last) seems about par for the course. Of course, I did help out Werewolf by giving his song 3 points, even though he didn't vote the same for mine .

Damn, I love this band.

Weird. I know that Yeasayer has been submitted before and for some reason I thought Ambling Alp had been the song. But search tells me it was 2080.

All in all, it looks like this round is going out with a bang.

Dammit...

Does this mean Hiromi is no longer eligible for a future contest under normal rules? I love some of her stuff, and she's been on my short list for a while.

You're probably right. Funny how when some people quit trying it gets better. Also surprised how many I recognize, but it's probably due to the laxed qualifiying rules getting some less "fringe" bands in.

Wow. When I said I would possibly try the 90s band route,

this was exactly the band/song I was first considering.

I'm surprised they're eligible. But I see the album only made it to #59, and the hit single ("Low") only to #64 (though a top 5 Mainstream/Modern Rock hit).

Another susprise they're eligible, but I see they only got to #60 with the follow-up to this album. Another big in UK, not so big here submission.

Also, love the video to this: the guy wearing his shoes around the world and often looking down at them. Seems like the perfect song for actuaries.

This should be interesting.

I've never been able to keep up with their style. "The Charm of the Highway Strip" was way more country sounding than I expected

Does this have anything to do with the Hawkwind submission?

Japanese Ska/Jazz? Wonder how it will follow up from the Japanese song in the first round. It's like we've come full circle (sorta kinda in a way).

I recall enjoying "2080" at the time it was submitted, but not long after. Interesting to see them back again.

Now, I'm only wishing I had thought to check this last night so I could download and listen today.
