I wasn't really thinking Sonic Youth either, but i agree - Stone Temple Pilots is so far from this sound it's just silly. It's like if I said Kamelot sounded like Poison or something.

Yeah, I wondered if he was thinking of a different BotB song from this round.

As for Sonic Youth, let me preface this by saying that according to iTunes I have more SY than any other artist, so I do have a broad base for comparison. And one song that came to mind was this:

It's got everything - the somewhat deadpan Thurston Moore delivery, the slow guitar intro, the eventual transition from simple guitar to skronking. Man I love me some Sonic Youth.

i might be in the same boat as you re: amount of sonic youth. that song is pretty awesome.
