Default Starting to Study..again!

Hi all,

This is my second time studying for this exam. I didnt get the 2A last year or the 2B in the past 2 years..a little discourged.

I wanted to ask you for some advice. Do you think taking the EA's again are a good idea given I have already studied for them in the past? I got a 4 and 3 on the last two 2B exams (so grade got worse) and then a 5 last year on the 2A..I dont want to jump ship and give up but at the same time, I am thinking, why not jump and try a different track.

Any comments would help!

Thanks!

Don't try a different track. I too will be studying for 2A this time around (it's much harder than CSPRU or DPRU). Just get 'er done. Good luck to ya (and me).

Meliche, if you don't mind me asking, how did you study for the EA-2A when you got a 5??

To be a pension actuary you need EA after your name. Don't give up, passing is attainable if you keep at it.

I don't know your whole situation but I'd never advise someone to go back to soa exams after starting ea.

Thanks all. I think you are right...going to keep at it until I get it.

jmd0405: I did Ricks seminar and then did past problems..I dont work in US retirement so it was tough for concepts to stick so I would do the questions over and over until it kindof made sense! I hope this time around I will be more confident with the material.

Thanks again..this is just what I needed to hear!

Some students have had success with taking the OTHER EA-2A seminar after not passing the first try. I know of two students who took both my EA seminar and Dave Farber's for the SAME exam sitting. Needless to say, they did pass the exam!
