Last year Spanish League started a week later because of a strike. I am pretty sure there was one in Italy not so long ago as well.

They do not have too many strikes in the top soccer leagues though.

I like the idea of the fouled man forced to take the shot. I like it for two reasons. (1) It doesn't give one guy an inflated goal number and (2) penalties are already a bit too easy, by not having your best guy take it every time it would probably slightly lower the success rate.

Italy also had a title revoked due to match fixing allegations. No one ended up winning the 2004-05 season. It's not all butterflies and rainbows over there.

Juventus won it, but it was later revoked. They ended up not rewarding it to anyone since so many teams were different degrees of guilty.

Juventus finished as champions, although they were later stripped of the title due to their involvement in the 2006 Serie A scandal. Runners-up AC Milan were also implicated in the scandal, and as a result that season's title was not awarded to any club.

I think I remember now - they went further back and stripped Juve of more titles than just the '05-'06 title. That one did go to Inter.
