Baby monitor.

(I assume the "sports bar" is just the area of the house near the pool.)

Actually, in this house they had a knock off sports bar - 4 TVs, megatouch game, big wet bar, a couple tables, etc.

This house was the biggest we've gotten so far. It's like $17k a week in July, but since we go the first week of off-season, it was only about $6000 or so, which worked out to $900 about per couple.

It had a fireplace in the master bedroom's bathroom...silly swanky!

Anyway, don't take my comments too seriously, DJZ.

I think society is best served if only willing parents procreate. And I think evolution has built in some mechanisms in which some individuals opt out from breeding - gays, and people like you, etc. And that's fine...I don't WANT you (or any of the other decent people I know who don't want the whole marriage/kids thing) to get married and have kids.

But I'm picking up a bit of resentment towards your friend for his choices - or, at the very least, his wife - and I don't think it's fair to disparage someone for opting a lifestyle which is the goal for the majority of humanity. It's like you consider your friend a victim of his wife's evil machinations. Maybe he willingly chose this life?

It does suck that we become less close with some friends over time. But that's not a function of "growing up", it's just a function of growing older. People go different directions for a lot of reasons.

But I'd encourage to try to keep up a relationship with your friend...after all, the kid thing is a very temporary period in our lives. After a decade or so they really don't need you much and you can do what you want again. Lifelong friends are few and far between, it's worth making and effort to tolerate his not being as free as you for a while. He'll have freedom again.

Unless of course all he really is to you is a drinking buddy. in which case, don't bother, just find another one.

Death cannot stop BFFs. All it can do is delay it for a while.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to love her still if it can't even make good whiskey.

Technically it's only definitive proof that the wife got laid.

How about "Having your own children is the end of adolescence", that sounds about right, as much as I'm not there, from what I've seen in others is really forces you to grow up fast.
