Default EA2A 2008 #40

When calculating the PV of the benefit at age 62, should we assume the benefit is un-reduced? I thought we weren't supposed to project service. Thanks.

You don't project service for calculating the benefit; that is frozen at the valuation date of 1/1/2009. However, the retirement decrements provided, along with no other pre-retirement decrements, imply that the participant continues to work and earn service toward early retirement eligibility.
