Default 9th edition ASM manual - still good?

I'm going to start studying for C with the aim of writing it in May (just about finished FAP modules here). I've inherited a 9th edition ASM study manual from a co-worker. But I see people here posting about 13th and 14th editions. Have things changed that much that I should get work to buy me a new manual instead of using this one?

Check the following link. It discusses the different editions.
Don't think it's updated with the 14th Edition yet, but I think I read somewhere where Abe said it'll mostly be small edits from the 13th.

On that same note, are the practice exams in the 9th edition similar to the most recent edition(s)? And also by exam number? For example, is PE 10 in the 9th edition the same exam as PE 10 in the 13th edition, and so on? Thanks

That I wouldn't know because I've never seen the 9th Edition. I used the 11th Edition and as far as I know, it was the same as the 13th. If the 9th edition also had 10 PE's, my guess is they're the same, but don't quote me on that one.

You can try going through some of the threads right before the exam dates and find some of the questions that people have posted regarding specific ASM PE problems and see if they match the ones in your edition. If they match then it's most likely that they're the same.

Ahhh, that page says:

Quote:
For C/4, current edition for October 2011 is 13th. . . .

The C/4 syllabus changed for Fall 2009. These changes are discussed in this file. Before Fall 2009, the last change to the syllabus was in Spring 2007, when material was moved to this exam from Exam M/3. Therefore:

If you have the 9th-12th editions, you may continue to use them.
Sounds good to me.

I think the 9th Edition coincides with the Fall 2009 exam, so the file you're referring to lists the significant syllabus changes from the 8th Edition to the 9th. You should really be fine using the 9th Edition.

You can pass with that edition but I would recommend buying a newer edition, imo due to syllabus changes and exam format to CBT with newer questions.

I think you're fine as long as the manual jives with the current syllabus, which it seems to. You may want to be extra careful to check the errata lists.
