Default Campus parking ticket

I was visiting a college campus this past weekend and parked without getting a visitors pass.

The next morning, covered completely in snow and soggy was a parking ticket from the school.

Is there anything that can happen by not paying this? As in does their parking fine hold any weight with the state DMV? I imagine if I go back they won't let me get a pass without paying or will fine more/tow if I get caught again.

Was it your alma mater? They could withhold a transcript if it was.

Can't imagine what they could do. I guess they could turn the info over to the DMV and if it is in your state, you might get a license suspension notice, but that seems unlikely.

IANAL. Can this be sent to a collection agency at some point? Only thing I'd be worried about imo.

Speaking from experience, they'll eventually give it to the DMV and you'll get a letter in the mail about it.

I appealed all my tickets and only paid for 1 out of 5 and it was a reduced amount.

I couldnt send in the ticket back if I wanted to, it was in the snow for hours. Hell, I wouldnt even have seen it if i cleared my windshield off first.

I don't pay parking tickets

edit: unless it's a city I visit a lot and I'm at the brink of getting a boot (on average ~4+ tickets outstanding)

At mine, the most they could do is tow your car if you did it again and they had a system showing you had an unpaid ticket.
