Default 2011 San Francisco 49ers Thread

There are all these bandwagon threads supporting crappy teams like the Jets, Eagles, and Bills cluttering up the forum. The only other team rightfully deserving of their own thread is Green Bay.

On Monday, a congratulations will be in order to the 49ers for locking up a first round bye.

No team has allowed fewer touchdowns or points on defense.
They rank first in defense vs. the rush and haven't given up 1 rush TD all year.
Frank Gore is a beast. Harbaugh is a genius.

And for all you jokers that say it's only because they are in the NFC West, well, they have had only 1 division game so far.

They are 4-0 on the road. The impressive thing about that is they have all been 1pm EST games..usually death traps for west coast teams. They are a FG as time expired away from being undefeated.

I assure you nobody wants to play in Candlestick in January of 2012. Good luck scrubs!

The 6th highest completion percentage and fewest INTs for anyone playing in more than 3 games is a weakness?

Consider it a good thing if you weakness is only that bad. I would put some of that onus on the WR/TE as well. Never a good thing when the best description for your QB is "game manager".

Clearly the offense flows through the RB and not the QB, and is that because of the "ground & pound" philosophy, or the lack of a gunslinging quarterback?

I say the Defense is the key. Any time you can stop the run game, you can control the clock/tempo and take most offenses out of their comfort zone. Now they just need to avoid any key injuries (e.g., Gore or Carlos Rogers).

NYG coming up. Then @BAL on Thanksgiving? I'm looking forward to that one. Two strong, like-minded teams (running and defense) and turkey.

Solid win over the Giants today. Sucks that ATL couldn't pull it out against NO, or the Niners would have a two game lead for the #2 seed, with five games left against NFC West teams.

My biggest fear right now is injuries (specifically Gore) against the Steelers or Ravens.
