Just had a meeting with my manager about year end performance review. He said he wanted to give me a heads up that they've received some negative feedback about me, and they (boss + bosses boss) were going to meet with HR next week to discuss. I kept pressing him for more information, but due to privacy and all that junk, he couldn't elaborate. I asked him if my job is safe, and he said he thought so.
My thoughts are that if they're getting HR involved, it can't be something as trivial as wow, he really screwed up this project. Or he didn't do a good job at whatever. I'm thinking I must have said something to offend someone and this is the course of action that they must take. I conclude this because I've done all that's asked of me as far as work goes. Thoughts? Should I be worried about being fired? Do you think my thought process is accurate? Thanks. |

Contact D.W. Simpson for opportunities in your area.
Your best case scenario is any form of probation, and probably what I'd guess is going to be the result. But in any case, I'd get your resume in order. Are you bad at your job? Do you say inappropriate things like certain other people do? The former would be more of a reason to fire you, the latter just sitting you down, saying you're doing a good job but why would you say the secretary has a fat ass, seriously this is a work environment jesus. |

I don't think so. I may have looked at some girls in bathing suits or something to that nature, but no one was at my desk, unless someone did some internet site scan and determined I was looking at this sort of thing, but I doubt this is it.

They likely received a report that requires them to act on it (CYA type of thing), but until they get all of the details straight (the allegation being "reasonable"), they're not going to bring you into the fracas.
If it's serious and "reasonable", you should be afforded the opportunity to address the allegations before considerations of firing are taken. However, you might end up being assigned to a different area if an amicable resolution isn't found.

I've been interviewing and my resume is up to date, more for the reason I need a change of pace and being in my current job for some time. I'm very good at my job.

So if he is a trustworthy person, sounds like you're in the clear.
