oh wait, I don't want to do that because the new commish needs the first few posts for league stuff.
Do we have a guess from The Board for the timing of this?

I'm trying to get all of them to talk about it and make a decision. Linus is the only one who volunteered, but he wasn't 100% sure. So basically if he says, "yes, I can do it" then he is the commish. If he says "no, I can't do it", then we are looking for someone not on the board. Since you volunteered and if you are still willing to do it, at that time, you would have the job.

Does that make sense?

That makes sense and was what seemed to be the setup for a few days now.

I'm just wondering when the hammer will fall, largely in case I need to set some time aside for commishing. I don't want to knock Linus out, just want to be a prepared alternate.

I just sent pms to the board. If I were you, I'd start preparing to be the commish now. Linus seems to have been kinda absent the last few days, so that might be a sign he doesn't have as much time as he thinks.

Ok, I've moved up in all rounds except for the 7th. Still looking to upgrade there.

Did we ever officially set the keeper due or draft date? It that still under consideration by the board?

right now, the keeper and draft deadlines are going to be set up on the schedule in the rules. I don't think the board ever came to a decision regarding the changes being considered.

Honestly, I don't mind the rules in place, last year was an exception because of the really early reporting date for pitchers. I don't think it's as early this year.

Pitchers and Catchers Report: Sunday, Feb 19th
Madatory Reporting Date: Friday, Mar 2nd

So if nothings changing and I read the rules right and apply it correctly...

Pre-Season Trading Deadline: Sunday Feb 12th (one week before P/C Report)
Keeper Deadline (aka Draft Really Begins): Sunday Feb 19th (P/C Reporting Date)
Draft Schedule Begins: Thursday Mar 8th (1st Thurs after Mandatory Reporting Date)
Draft Schedule Ends: Weds Mar 28th (3 weeks after draft begins)

First Game: Weds March 28th (Oakland vs. Seattle in Tokyo)

If we start drafting on Feb 19th, then we'd be done somewhere in the Mar 11-18 range. 10 to 17 days before the Tokyo series and 17 to 24 days before the "real" opening day.
