Actually if the whole movie had just been three doofus high school boys being idiots with superpowers, I might've liked that a lot more.
Surprised I didn't review this yet. I'd probably say the same as you...3 Stars.

And I agree with you. I enjoyed it a lot more when it was 3 guys with superpowers goofing off, though I guess that's not much of a plot for a film.

Project X: ** 1/2

Got in a pre-screening last night of the movie - was a little interested in the premise. "Superbad on crack"? Alright, let's see what it's about.

Warning: if you are not a fan of the cinematography style of the Blair Witch Project, it's probably not a good idea for you to watch this in the theater. There's a helluva lot of bouncing around with a handheld camera, so consider yourself warned.

It sincerely was a "Superbad on crack" film - almost seemed like they grabbed parts of the story straight from the suggested originators. But there were moments of "Whoa" and "Haha". Predictable, though it'll make you appreciate (or at least be cognizant of) the generational gap.

I did like the main character - if anything, he felt genuine in the film. Most of the film felt like a caricature of life.

The Secret World of Arrietty: ***.5

Overall, very charming. Really enjoyed it. I never read any of The Borrowers books, so I don't know how it compares.

Just looking at rotten tomatoes: every movie in the top ten box office this week is rotten.
Probably happens a lot, but it's the first time I've noticed it, so it's news.

Safe House: 3 stars

It's your typical CIA movie where there's a leak and someone has gone bad and all the twists and turns. But I was entertained by it. Also thought I would have a hard time taking Ryan Reynolds seriously, but he did a better job than I expected.

Ya, this time of the year is the dumping ground. Well, more of a dumping ground than the rest of the year.

Goon - 3 stars

Didn't expect much going in, but it was quite enjoyable.

Time to bump this thread. Isn't anyone seeing movies this year?

The Five-Year Engagement
3 stars – it took me awhile to get into this one but there were some really funny moments. Brian Posshein and Chris Parnell had some crazy moments – Peonies! I was less crazy about Emily Blunt as the female lead. This movie felt it’s length (a full 2 hours).
