I know it's a bit early, but since I've listened to the songs long enough, I'll go ahead and put in my votes. Besides - first voter of BotB VII!

Air Review - America’s Son (3): This song is all about the transitional chords for me. I really liked it, and it stands up to multiple listens for me quite well.

Built to Spill - When Not Being Stupid is not Enough (1): I wasn’t impressed with this initially, but it grew on me with multiple listens. It had a bit of a Blind Melon feel, really (without the heavily modulated vocals).

Stephie Coplan and the Pedestrians - JERK! (0): The first couple of listens, this was a 1 or 2 point song for me – it had a number of points I liked about it…but multiple listens started to wear on me. By the end of my scoring, it was either 1 or 0 points, and there were other songs I liked more than this one.

Jonny Diaz - More Beautiful You (0): Generic country-fied pop. Or maybe poppified country? I dunno. Might be worth a point, at suppose since I didn’t want to keep changing the song when it came on. And yet, when it came to trimming, this was a song I had no regrets shaving the point.

Gina G - Ooh Aah... Just A Little Bit (Motiv8 Radio Edit) (0): This one was near the bottom of the ranks for me. Generic dance pop does not wow me, and this one didn’t have anything interesting to offer.

The Industry - The Choice Is Mine (0): Another 1 or 0 point song for me, and it seems that with this round, ‘when in doubt, shave the point’.

Jesu -Silver (0): Moody and long. There were others this round I liked better.

Korpiklaani - Vodka (3): I couldn’t help but really like this song. I kept hopping up in down when this one would come around. Yeah, Wodka, for sure…but I still liked it.

Lenka - Everything at Once (1): Cute. A bit of an simple song, lyrically, though. If your song is about ‘everything’, you’re pretty free to say just about anything. This was my wife’s favorite song.

Neuratik - Watchin' Closely (1): Is that Jason Statham “watchin’ closely?” The chorus was like an electronic didgeridoo, an effect I’ve heard before, still it was kind of neat.

Overwerk - Buzzin’ (1): Not a bad techno song, but it’s like stuff I’ve heard in many techno songs, so it didn’t do anything for me. Even if my head WAS bobbing as it played like Night at the Roxbury. Fine, have a point <sigh>.

The Pimps of Joytime - Thas the Way We Do (0): Lenny Kravitz meets…er…someone that raps like they aren’t Lenny Kravitz? Might be worth a point, but the name of the song? That really annoyed me. And yet the previous band name and song didn’t bug me as much. Why? I didn’t analyze it too much. In any case – no soup for you!

Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes (0): Not a bad song – probably a 1-point group, normally, but I decided to shave here as well.

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Don’t Haunt This Place (1): I liked this one. I actually gave this one a 2, initially, but it lost one when it came time to shave down to 15. I particularly liked the percussion mixed with the duet, like when the snare matched up, “…because we need this need this oh, so bad.”

Sixpence None the Richer - Dizzy (4): It’s long, but since it strikes me as a great dancing/walzing tune, that wasn’t as big of a deal. My favorite of the round.

I think it made it onto a recent episode of Glee too.

Are we guaranteed to have a first-time winner in this game?

I think past games were won by Coffee Coffee, Kaia, cubedbee x2 and AA x2, right?

I know which songs I am giving points to, I am just trying to decide how to split those points up

ditto. Although I will probably not be anywhere as verbose as EvilAustinTom.

I'll probably be voting toward the end. Busy busy busy.

And I am typically about as verbose as EAT.

So I'll probably be voting on Thursday
